Deep (third) layer Flashcards
What is the distal attachment of flexor digitorum profundus?
bases of distal phalanges of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th digits
What is the proximal attachment of flexor digitorum profundus (FDP)?
proximal three quarters of medial and anterior surfaces of ulna and interosseous membrane
What innervates the flexor digitorum profundus?
lateral part (to digits 2 and 3): median nerve (C8, T1) anterior interosseous branch medial part (to digits 4 and 5): ulnar nerve (C8, T1)
What are the main actions of flexor digitorum profundus?
flexes distal interphalangeal joints of digits 2, 3, 4, and 5
assists with wrist flexion
What is the proximal attachment of flexor pollicis longus (FPL)?
anterior surface of radius and adjacent interosseous membrane
What is the distal attachment of flexor pollicis longus?
base of distal phalanx of thumb
What innervates flexor pollicis longus?
anterior interosseous nerve, from median nerve (C8, T1)
What are the main actions of flexor pollicis longus?
flexes phalanges of first digit (thumb)
What is the proximal attachment of pronator quadratus?
distal quarter of anterior surface of ulna
What is the distal attachment of pronator quadratus?
distal quarter of anterior surface of radius
What innervates pronator quadratus?
anterior interosseous nerve, from median nerve (C8, T1)
What are the main actions of pronator quadratus?
pronates forearm; deep fibers bind radius and ulna together
