It inserts on medial border of scapula superior to root of spine
What is the origin of levator scapulae?
It originates on posterior tubercles of transverse processes C1-C4
What is innervation of levator scapulae?
Dorsal scapular nerve C5 and cervical spinal nerves C3 and C4
What is action of levator scapulae?
It elevates scapula and tilts glenoid cavity inferiorly by rotating scapula
What is origin of rhomboid minor?
It originates on nuchal ligament, spinous processes of C7 and T1
Where does rhomboid minor insert?
Triangular area of medial end of scapular spine
What is innervation of rhomboid minor?
Dorsal scapular C4 and C5; main segmental innervation of C5
What is action of rhomboid minor?
Retracts scapula and rotates it to depress glenoid cavity; fix scapula to thoracic wall
What is origin of rhomboid major?
It originates on spinous processes of T2-T5
Where does rhomboid major insert?
It inserts on medial border of scapula from spine to inferior angle
What is innervation of rhomboid major?
Dorsal scapular nerve C4 and C5; main segmental innervation C5
What is action of rhomboid major?
Retracts scapula and rotates it to depress glenoid cavity; fix scapula to thoracic wall
