Strep Toxic Shock
Associated with Invasive Disease –> SurgeryClinda turns off toxin production. Pen GOr Clinda + Ceftriaxone. **IVIG decreases organ failure in STSS
Staph Toxic Shock
Nafacillin or Oxacillin (VANC if MRSA suspected) + Clindamycin + IVIG Cefazolin, Vanc, and Dapto also can be used.
Botulism
Adults: Equine Anti-toxin Infants: Baby BIG
C. Tetani
- Intubate (Laryngospasm) 2. Diazepam for spasms 3. Tetanus Anti-Toxin / Immunization4. Surgical Debriedment + Pen G / Doxy/ Metro5. Avoid Light6. Beta Blockers
Acute Otitis Media
S. Pneumoniae, H. Influenza, M. Catarrhalis Treat with Amoxicillin for 10 days, if it returns within a month give a course of Amox-Clav (Augmentin)
