Avalokiteshvara
The bodhisattva of compassion; the patron deity of Tibet.
Chod
A Buddhist practice aimed at overcoming attachment to the physical body and thus to the sense of an independent self.
Chorten
Tibetan for stupa, a Buddhist monument often containing the relics of high lamas.
Milarepa
12th-century yogi-saint whose spiritual songs are beloved in all schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
Nechung Oracle
The State Oracle, in important medium and advisor to the Dalai Lama, who channels the spirit of Dorje Drakden, a protector deity of Tibet and the Dharma.
Tantra
May refers to a type of sacred texts and/or traditions within Hinduism and Buddhism.

A text or sacred object left by Padmasambhava for future generations of practitioners to discover.
Thankgka
A silk or painted cloth scroll, often mounted in brocade, bearing sacred Tibetan Buddhist images. They are devotional objects; the symbols and gestures depicted are meant to represent manifestations of Buddhist principles.
Khata
A white silk scarf used as an offering on special occasions.
Torma
Hand-modeled ornaments made of butter and barley flour, used as offerings in religious ceremonies.
