Deck 6 - Cardiovascular Drugs Flashcards
the VEINS is the pump that moves blood through the arterial tree.
HEART
The HEART collects blood from the capillaries.
VENULES
ARTERIOLES transport blood under high pressure to tissues.
ARTERIES
ARTERIES are the sites for the exchange of fluid, oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients, hormones, and wastes.
CAPILLARIES
The VENULES transport blood back to the heart. In addition, it serves as a major reservoir for blood.
VEINS
It is controlled by the ANS.
HEART RATE
Inhibits ADP to prevent signals to aggregate and forming a clot.
CLOPIDOGREL
Any deviation from the normal rhythm of the heart.
DYSRHYTHMIAS
A pathologic state where the heart is unable to pump enough blood from the ventricles to meet metabolic needs.
HEART FAILURE
It is used for the prevention of migraine headaches and severe dysmenorrhea, mgt of opioid, nicotine, and alcohol withdrawal.
CLONIDINE
It works to prevent platelet adhesion at the site of blood vessel injury, which occurs before the clotting cascade.
ANTIPLATELETS
It is an early stage of progressive artery disease characterized by pain increasing in severity and frequency and may even occur at rest.
UNSTABLE ANGINA
Atherosclerosis is the primary source of this intense but short-lived pain, which can be brought on by exertion or stress and made worse by smoking, alcohol, coffee, and some narcotics. It usually goes away after 15 minutes of rest or medication.
CHRONIC STABLE ANGINA
Due to spasms of the smooth muscle that surrounds the coronary arteries, which happen at rest without any known reasons but typically around the same time of day.
VASOSPASTIC ANGINA
It is sustained high pressure in the pulmonary veins that eventually force some fluid from the blood into the surrounding alveoli which transfer oxygen to the bloodstream.
PULMONARY CONGESTION
