inadequate blood supply to the placenta, affecting oxygen delivery to the fetus
What type of foods should mom consume to avoid neural tube defects?
Foods with folic acid
How many oz of water should a mother drink daily?
48 - 64 oz
Understand variable decelerations
Umbilical cord compression - leads to a temporary decrease in blood flow and oxygen supply to the fetus
If you have a client with past hx of preeclampsia, what medication should you expect the physician to order proactively?
Magnesium sulfate
What is a VBAC?
Vaginal birth after c section
What factors will decide whether a provider approves/denies a VBAC?

Will likely deny VBAC
When there is a rupture of membranes, what do we want to assess and why?
Assess amniotic fluid to avoid infection if it has been sitting for several hours
What is HELLP syndrome?
A variant of gestational HTN in which these conditions coexist with severe preeclampsia - involving liver dysfunction
