DECK 1: POLYNOMIAL INTRO Flashcards
What are other names for “solutions” of a polynomial function?
zeros, roots, x-intercepts
What are other names for “zeros” of a polynomial function?
roots, x-intercepts, solutions
What are other names for “roots” of a polynomial function?
zeros, x-intercepts, solutions
What are other names for “x-intercepts” of a polynomial function?
zeros, roots, solutions
What is the “degree of a polynomial?”
The degree is just the highest exponent
What is the “leading term of a polynomial?”
The leading term is the term that has the highest exponent. If in standard form, it is the first term.
What is a coefficient?
The number in front of a variable or variables. It tells you how many you have.
What is a variable?
It is a letter or symbol that is “standing in” for a number. It is like a “?”
What is an exponent?
It is the number up top. It tells you how many times you multiply the base by itself.
8x 2 what is the coefficient?
8
