- we should put the gospel into action by not being selfish to others
-money and power are short term rewards but jesus is rewarding you with eternal life whilst being a good diciple

- shows that he is a suffering servant
- shows us he had power and authority from god. he had the power to forgive sins and power over the sabbath.
- it is important as it tells us so much about jesus. He would suffer die and rise again ajd he came to serve not to be served.
- it stresses jesus humanity humans can relate as it shows that jesus is both human and divine.

-son of man is seen as a jewish title and christian’s are not jewish
- it can seem vague because it has many different meanings.
- many christians do not have good knowledge of the old testament so they don’t understand the importance.
Peters declaration of Jesus
Jesus went to caesarea phillipi. On the way he asked his disciples “who do they say i am” They said “john the baptist,elijah,or one of the prophets.” Jesus asked “who do you say i am” Peter answered “you are the Messiah” Jesus warned them to tell no one. He told them that the son of man would suffer,die and rise again. Peter rebuked jesus. Jesus said to peter “Get away from me Satan! your thoughts don’t come from god but from human nature!”

- Very difficult to understand may have all been a dream
- hard to believe jesus’ clothes became dazzling white.
- Mark may have over exaggerated the story.

- it is not difficult to accept jesus is more than a good teacher he is divine.
- god declared jesus as his son,therefore he was on the right path.
- the voice “listen to him” this confirms authority from god.

- jesus performs many human actions which indicated he was a good,compassionate,loving teacher.
- it is clear from marks gospel that jesus was a good teacher,large crowds gathered for him to teach. (feeding of the 5000)
- some nature miracles may have been a coincidence(calming of the storm)

- Jesus is a saviour. The power of god works through many ways his death on the cross was his ultimate sacrifice.
- jesus had the ability to perform miracles this proves he was more than a good teacher, he was divine.
Why jesus keeps his identity a secret
jesus did not want to be publicly recognised as the messiah early in his ministry so he hid it. if anyone found out this would of drew attention of the romans.

jesus was going to be a different messiah. he would suffer and die for others. he would be a universal saviour (offer freedom to all not just the jews). he was going to be a humble and peaceful messiah
Significance of the feeding of the 5000
Jesus teaches people to “feed” the crowd. This teaches christian’s to never turn away people who are in need of help and support. Jesus shows compassion for the crowd when they were in need of spiritual guidance,like a shepherd who tends his flock. Jesus will always tend his followers
Significance of Blind Bartimaeus
We learn that jesus is the Messiah. Be persistent in prayer the crowd told the man to be quiet,but he kept on calling and was healed. Christians should keep asking too. Prayer is a relationship with God. Jesus knew the man was blind but still asked him what he wanted. God knows what we want but wants us to talk to him. Bartimaeus showed great faith,we should too. Bartimaeus followed jesus on the road,this suggests he became a follower.
if one of you want to be a great servant to the rest
- jesus speaks to the disciples about the meaning of discipleship (following jesus) “if you want to be great you must be a servant of the rest”
- jesus calls himself the he son of man and states they MUST follow his example and be a servant to all people. “the son of man came to serve not be served” this shows us he is the son of man
- jesus would “give his life as a ransom for many” this means that jesus death would be special. His special death would mean eternal life for many.
- jesus as the son of man came to serve and not to be served therefore he will not decide where people are seated in heaven.
