De-ice Flashcards
What conditions determine icing conditions?
10 C and below with visible moisture
Under what conditions do we set ENG in MCDU?
Under what conditions do we set ALL in MCDU?
- When outside air temp is between 5 and 10 C and visible moisture up to 1700’
- When outside air is less than 5C and visible moisture up to 1700’
- When does the aircraft automatically operate anti-ice equipment?
- How do you operate anti-ice equipment ?
- The engines and wings operate automatically with switch in auto and ice detector activates.
- Select ice mode switch to ON. You must do this if one or both ice detectors are inop.
- What is a pre-takeoff check?
2. Where do you check from?
- Checking essential surfaces (wings) for anything frozen AFTER de-ice and BEFORE takeoff.
- From inside the airplane.
- What is a pre-takeoff CONTAMINATION check?
- Must be done within_________________________?
- Also, must do in ____________and if conditions ________
- Done when holdover time has been exceeded.
- Within 5 minutes prior to takeoff.
- Heavy snow and if conditions change.
What are the preflight requirements for ADSP’s?
The probes and marked area around them are free of
- Contamination
- Dents
- De-ice fluid?
- How do we know when the ADSP’s are blocked? (2)
2. How do we fix?
- Instruments are not reading correctly, Flight control PBIT hours don’t reset.
- Turn heater on for 3 minutes.
Is frost permitted?
- On fuselage?
- On wings?
- On fuselage as long as you can see surface features.
2. 1/8” on underwing surface.
How do we calculate holdover time?
Use flip cards .
Must know brand of fluid and the start time.
What do we do if holdover time has been exceeded?
A pre-takeoff CONTAMINATION check no more than 5 minutes prior to takeoff.
If there is any contamination then back to de-ice pad.
When are the flaps extended if we de-ice?
Just before takeoff using the de-ice before takeoff check (in the deice flip cards.
