D.C Circuits Flashcards
Kirchoff’s first law :
🔹It states that the sum of currents entering a junction always equals the sum of currents leaving the junction.
🔹The law is about the conservation of charge.
What is a junction?
🔹is a point where at least 3 paths meet.
What is a branch?
🔹Branch is a path connecting two junctions.
Kirchoff’s second law:
🔹The sum of the EMF in a closed circuit equals the sum of the potential differences (across all resistors)
🔹This law is about the conservation of energy.
What is an Electromotive Force (emf) ?
🔹The electromotive force is the amount of chemical energy being converted electrical energy per coulomb of charge when a charge passes through a power supply.
🔹(Energy transformed per unit charge)
🔹Is the potential difference across the cell when no current is flowing through it.
