Dangers of marijuana
- no quality standards
- may be contaminated with other drugs
- unpredictable effects due to variable strengths

affects parts of brain that control emotions, memory, and judgement
How would you describe behavioral toxicity to a sixth grader?
What the drug makes user do is dangerous. For example, marijuana can make user have poor judgement»_space; behaviors that put user in danger.
Marijuana: psychological and physical addiction
psychologically addictive, possibly physically addictive

Increased HR, red eyes and mouth, lung irritaiton + trouble breathing, strong odor, delayed reaction time + decreased muscle coordination
Marijuana: psychological side effects
- euphoria, hallucinations, panic attacks
- decreased attention span
- impaired short-term memory
- loss of sense of time

Marijuana: drug interactions
Marijuana + stimulant = increased HR, BP, p(CV death)
Marijuana + depressant = decreased coordination, decreased HR and breathing
Effects of marijuana on fetus and newborn
Pre-mature delivery, low birth weight, higher chance of birth defects if pregnant mother uses marijuana
Nursing mothers can pass drug on to newborn
Marijuana: possible withdrawal symptoms
irritability, insomnia, aggression
