Day 2AM Flashcards
Lab Data
-Important component of design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and modification of the pharma. care plan
Accuracy
Ability of test to provide true value
Sensistivity
True positive
Specificity
True negative
Precision
Refers to reproductivity. The ability of the test to produce the same answer every time that it is tested.
Analyte
Is the substance used for the lab test, measured by an assay exist in several forms free or bound and may elicit different results
Biomarker
Characteristics objectively measured and evaluated as an indicator of normal physiologic processes, pathogenic processes, pharmacologic responses to a therapeutic interventions.
Noninvasive tests
Examine fluids or other substances without using a needle, tube or scope penetrate the skin or to enter the body.
Invasive tests
Examines fluids by using a needed or other thing to penetrate the body.
Qualitative test
Results reported as positive or negative without further characterization or degree. Ex: urine pregnancy, toxicology tests
Quantitative test
Results reported in exact numeric measurement and assessed in context of a reference range
Semi Quantitative
Results reported with varying degrees of positivity by no direct concentration. Indicates a positive test and gives you a range but does not give an exact number.
Reference range
Statistically derived numerical range obtained by resting a sample of individuals assumed to be healthy.
Units of measure
SI: international system of units report clinical lab values using the metric system.
- Basic unit of mass is the mole
- Traditional units of mass is the gram more common
- SI# x18= gram
Critical values
Result that is far outside the reference range that indicates morbidity. Notify members of the healthcare team ASAP
