12
Q

What is Somatic Nervous system and what do Afferents and Efferents do?

A
  1. Conscious perceptions
  2. All afferents are sensory
  3. Efferents connect CNS directly to Skeletal muscle (only one synapse)

Q

What is Autonomic Nervous System and what do Afferents and Efferents do?

A
  1. Not consciously perceived
  2. Afferents send info from organs to CNS
  3. Efferent connect CNS to smooth muscle (forms 2 synapses)

16
Q

What is White matter

A
  1. Myelinated axons located in gray matter (no able to take up stain)
  2. Wiring
17
Q

Where is gray matter found?

A
  1. Forms “H” shape in spinal cord. Surrounded by white matter
  2. Exterior of brain and clumps within white matter in interior of brain
18
Q

Two layers of support for the CNS

A
  1. Outer bony layer

2. Membrane layer - Meninges
