what is manual and automatic data processing
A
- peripheral devices which can automate the input and processing of data and avoid human errors such as typos during data entry.

A
- biometric readers; these read fingerprints, handprints or iris for use in personal identification e.g. phone password
- barcode readers; reads lines of different thickness and coverts them into values
- smart metres; these accurately record electricity and gas usage and sends readings to the energy supplier
- optical mark recognition (OMR); these automatically read a form and input the data
- radio-frequency identification devices; these are used in stocktaking and race timing systems.
