What is CSMA/CD?
Carrier Sense Multiple Access With Collision Detection
Used to determine when the communications channels are clear, and when a device is free to transmit data.
What is a MAC Address?
A globally unique identifier attached to an individual network interface.
What is the OUI?
Organizationally Unique Identifier
The first three octets of a mac address that identify who the manufacturer is.
What is a Data Packet?
An all-ecompassing term that represents any single set of binary data being sent across a Network link
What is a data packet at the ethernet level known as?
An Ethernet Frame
What is an Ethernet frame?
A highly structured collection of infromation presented in a specific order.
What is a Preamble?
The first part of the Ethernet frame.
its made up of 8 bytes (64 bits) long, and can itself be split into two sections
