Accuracy
Complete, clear, correct and consistent
Reasonableness
The data needs to suit the requirement. (e.g student born in 2020 is not reasonable for a high school enrolment page.)
Relevant
The data needs to fit the purpose. Is the data relevant to the system’s purpose. (e.g. Student’s favourite ice cream flavour for a library borrowing system is not relevant)
Authenticity
The data source needs to be trustworthy.
Timeliness
The data needs to be recent/relevant to the program.
Data life cycle
Create data, validate data, share data, backup data, archive data, delete data
Difference between backup and archive
Backup means a copy is taken.
Archive means the data is moved.
Threats to data integrity
Accidental threats, event based threats and deliberate threats

- Loss of customer loyalty
- Costs of repairs
- Decline in stock market value etc.
