Primary data proper definition -
Data collected from from first-hand experience (don’t say data you have collected yourself), this data is collected so it can specifically fit the related aims/hypothesis.
Secondary data proper definition -
Information that was collected for a purpose other than the current one, may include data collected by the researcher of a another study or for a different study.
Secondary data - strengths
- Simpler and cheaper and less time-consuming
- May have experienced statistical testing so therefore can be considered significant and relevant
Secondary data limitation -
- The data may not fit the means of the study
Primary data strength -
- The data collected is designed to fit the purpose of the study so it can fir aims and hypothesis that are being measured.
Primary data limitation -
- May be time-consuming and expensive to operate and collect data.
Quantitative data definition -
Refers to the collection of numerical data, closed.
Qualitative data definition -
Non-numerical data, data expressed in words such as how someone feel, likely to be produced in open questions from interviews.
