Q
Discuss the strength of this technique
A
Chain is heavy and sits on bed- not disturbed by velocity
Produces an actual measurement that can be contrasted with other sites
1
Q
Describe and justify what you did
A
Chain placed in water where it touched bank at one side and fed carefully across the bed to the other side. Chain then removed and measured using tape
Chain and tape held at the top and then hands run down to get an accurate wetted perimeter measurement
2
Q
Discuss the weaknesses/limitations of this technique
A
Chain links were 2.5cm too big to fit into all nooks and crannies
Chain too short at site 3 and didn’t produce and accurate result
Chain moved at site 3 due to high velocity
