Dark Phase Flashcards
what is the dark phase and where does it take place
the dark phase is independent of light and takes place in the stroma of the chloroplast
what does the dark phase depend on
it depends on the products of the light phase
what happens in the dark phase
atmospheric carbon dioxide combines with the hydrogen (from the NADPH produced in the light phase) to form energy-rich glucose
what provides energy for the dark phase reactions
provided by the ATP and NADPH, with these substances being converted BACK to ADP and NADP respectively
what is the calvin cycle
the conversion of carbon dioxide and hydrogen to glucose
what happens to the glucose produced
some of the glucose is used by the plant and the remainder is converted to starch and stored
