A

they tried to fix it by getting the patient black out drunk ( alcohol ) or a form of opium also they just knocked people out with a punch or two

why was Robert Liston regarded as one of the best surgeons of the 1840s

A

he was known as the ‘fastest knife in the west’ which lead to him having the highest survival rate of any surgeon. he also cut someones testicles off during surgery!!!

they used tourniquets which would be used to stop heavy blood flow from arteries.
