  • threatening= secondary appraisal and we consider how best to equip to cop with the hassle.

Kanner, researched whether daily hassles were a better predictor of ill-health than life changes

  • 100 pps aged 45-65 completed a hassle scale every month for 9 months and a life changes scale 1 month before study and on the 10th month.
  • researchers had 2 measures of life changes
  • then completed another checklist to measure symptoms of depression

  • more hassle = more depressive symptoms
