Endogenous pyrogen. Fever and acute-phase proteins.
IL-8
Neutrophils!
IL-12
T cells –> Th1 cells. Activates NK cells. Secreted by B cells.
TNF-alpha
Septic shock mediator. Activates endothelium. Leukocyte recruitment. Vascular leak.
IL-2
T cells
IL-3
Stimulates bone marrow.
Interferon-y
Antiviral/antitumor. Activates NK. Increases MHC expression and antigen presentation.
IL-4
Th2 cell differentiation. Growth of B cells. Class switching to IgE and IgG.
IL-5
Promotes differentiation of B cells. Enhances class switching to IgA. Stimulates eosinophils.
IL-10
Inhibits inflammation. Inhibits actions of activated T cells and Th1. Secreted by regulatory T cells. Works with TGF-B during inhibiting of inflammation.
Interferon A and B
Interfere with viruses.
IL-1
Causes fever, acute inflammation. Activates endothelium to express adhesion molecules. Recruits leukocytes.
