Cytokine list Flashcards
G-CSF cytokine
Made by basic tissue cells such as fibroblasts
Stimulates the production of neutrophils and their migration into the blood
IFN alpha cytokine
Produced by infected cells
Increases antiviral responses
Increases MHC1 levels on cells
Causes autocrine release of IFN beta cytokine
IFN beta cytokine
Produced by infected cells
Increases antiviral responses
Increases MHC1 levels on cells
INF gamma cytokine
Produced by T cells, NK cells and MALTS
Activates macrophages, increases presentation of antigens on MHC2, induces class switching of b-cells, Suppresses t helper 2 and t helper 17 cells
IL-1beta cytokine
Produced by macrophages and epithelial cells
Proinflammatory
IL 2 cytokine
Produced by T cells
T cell growth factor, promotes proliferation and effector function.
IL 4 cytokine
Produced by antigen presenting cells and Th2 cells
Causes differentiation of t cells in t helper 2 cells, causes class switching of b cells
IL 5 cytokine
Produces by antigen presenting cells and Th2 cells.
Causes differentiation of t cells into Th2 cells,
causes class switching of B-cells
Induces production of eosinophils
IL 6 cytokine
Produced by tissue cells, macrophages, endothelial cells and lymphocytes.
Proinflammatory
Causes generation of Th17 cells and follicular helper T cells from naive T cells.
IL 8 cytokine
Produced by macrophages, epithelial cells and other tissue types
Is a chemokine.
IL 10 cytokine
Produced by APC, b-cells and t-cells
Anti-inflammatory, causes naive t cells to become t reg cells.
IL 12 cytokine
Produced by antigen presenting cells
Induces naive t-cells to become type one helper t cells which produce INF gamma
IL 13 cytokine
Produced by Th2 cells
Helps B cells differentiate, inhibits macrophages and Th1 cells
IL 17 cytokine
Produced by Th17 cells,
Increases anti-microbial response and cytokines production in tissue
IL 21 cytokine
Produced by follicular helper T cells
Encourages cells to become Th17 cells
Maintains germinal centre and encourages lymphocyte proliferation.
