- fluids
- paracetamol/NSAIDs
- hygiene: wipe front to back
- avoid caffeine, alcohol, acidic drinks
- don’t resist the urge to urinate

Cystopurin - potassium citrate
Cymalon - sodium citrate (1 sachet TDS for 48hrs)

cautions - hypertension, pregnancy, CKD, CVD
(contain cranberry - warfarin, salts - hpt)

A
- no improvement in symptoms in 3 days
– male
– U 16 years
– pregnant
– haematuria
– elderly patients in an acute confused state
– systemic symptoms: fever, chills, nausea, vomiting
– severe pain in the loins
– failed treatment
– haematuria
– structural abnormality of genitourinary tract
– immunosuppressed
– uncontrolled diabetes
