• Under 16/over 70
• Men + children
• Recurrent attacks: >2 episodes in last 6 months
• Duration: >48H
• Blood in urine
• Diabetic, immunocompromised, pregnant

Treatment

Treat mild symptoms for <48H for 2 days only

Potassium citrate
- Interaction: CI hyperkalemia
- ACEi, spironolactone

Sodium citrate
- CI: HPT, pregnancy, salt restricted diet

Answer 3

• Drink plenty water
• Urinate after sex
• Wipe front to back
• Don’t hold in urine
• Avoid tight jeans/trousers
