Q

Describe the fate of the Cyane and Levant

A

Both ships were captured and taken by the USSC for repair. However, before leaving Porta Praia British ships were seen and because Capt. Stewart did not trust the British, he quickly got the crew underway and cut loose the Levant as a distraction for the British which was unsuccessful. Once out of the harbor, he decided to let the Cyane go as the risk wasn’t worth the reward.
