1
Q
What are examples of B-adrenoreceptor agonists and their clinical uses?
A
- Adrenaline: Cardiac arrest, asthma, anaphylactic shock
- Dobutamine: acute heart failure
2
Q
What are the pharmacodynamic effects of these adrenoreceptors?
A
- Increased force rate and cardiac output and O2 consumption
- decreased efficiency (O2 consumption higher than cardiac work)
- can cause disturbances in cardiac rhythm
3
Q
what are examples of B-adrenoreceptor antagonists?
A
- Propanol
- B-blockers (metopropol, atenolol)
4
Q
What are clinical uses of these antagonists?
A
- Treatment of disturbances of cardiac rhythm (dysrhythmia): excess sympathetic activity associated with stress or diseased
- treatment of hypertension
- treatment of angina
- treatment of heart failure
5
Q
What is the pharmacodynamic effect of non-selective muscarinic ACh receptor antagonist atropine on the heart?
A
- increase in heart rate
- no effect upon arterial blood pressure
- no effect upon response to exercise
