CVS Anatomy 1 Flashcards
What are the 2 circulations in the circulatory system?
systemic and pulmonary
Where does the aortic arch begin?
t4
What are the 4 borders of the heart?
right, left, superior and inferior
What makes up the right and left borders of the heart?
right is right atrium
left is left ventricle
What makes up the superior and inferior borders of the heart?
superior is RA and LA, superior vena cava, aorta and pulmonary trunk
inferior is right ventricle mostly, left ventricle and right atrium
What makes up the pericardium?
fibrous pericardium, serous pericardium - parietal pleura attached to that, visceral pleura attached to heart
What is the fibrous pericardium made up of?
dense thick connective tissue.
What does the left coronary artery split into and originate from?
origin is aorta. splits into anterior interventricular artery and circumflex artery
What does the right coronary artery split into and originate from?
origin is aorta. longer than left - splits sooner into marginal artery and then posterior interventricular artery
Which vessels anastamose and where?
at posterior interventricular septum. left anterior descending (LAD) from left coronary artery (LCA) and posterior descending artery (PDA) from right coronary artery (RCA)
right coronary artery and left circumflex artery
What does the left anterior descending artery supply?
RV, LV and 2/3 interventricular septum
What does the right coronary artery supply?
RA, RV, SA and AV nodes, 1/3 interventricular septum
What is the venous drainage of the heart? (4)
3 main vessels - great cardiac vein, middle cardiac vein and small cardiac vein. also anterior cardiac veins
Where does the great cardiac vein run?
alongside the left anterior interventricular artery
Where does the middle cardiac vein run?
alongside the right posterior descending artery
