What are the 3 types of stroke?
A
- Ischemic stroke: Blood clot/materials block blood flow to brain
- Hemorrhagic stroke: Blood vessel in brain bursts, damaging surrounding tissue
- Transient ischemic attack (a warning or “mini-stroke”)

What are modifiable risk factors for stroke?
A
unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, obesity, tobacco use, and too much alcohol

what are non modifiable risk factors for stroke?
A
older age, sex (women), race or ethnicity (People who are non-Hispanic Black or Pacific Islander may be more likely to die from a stroke than non-Hispanic Whites, Hispanics, American Indian or Alaska Natives, and Asians are), genes and family environment

what conditions are associated with an increased risk of stroke?
A
Previous stroke or transient ischemic attack, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disorders, diabetes, obesity, sickle-cell disease
