He began his animation career in the 1980s at Portland’s Will Vinton Studios, working on projects including “Claymation Christmas Celebration,” “The PJs,” and a TV special about the Claymation characters “California Raisins.” Later, he served as animation director for Wes Anderson’s “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and was co-director for “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio,” for which he won an Oscar last year for best animated feature film.
