How do organisations tackle implicit biases?
- Combat the risk factors that support implicit bias

What are some risk factors that cause implicit bias?
Risky emotional states
Ambiguous information (use of stereotypes to fill the gap)
Socially salient categories (e.g. mums not at home = judged negatively)
Low Cognitive Processing (quick assessment)
Distraction
Lack of feedback (need to ask for peer advice)
How to address implicit biases:
- Discover your own implicit biases
- Take note of biases in your profession or industry
- Challenge implicit biases
- Improve diversity at all levels
What are Schein’s 4 categories of culture?
Macro-cultures = nations, international occupations e.g. scientist
Organisational Cultures = company
Sub-cultures = peer to peer groups
Micro-cultures = Even smaller groups such
as two friends
