Monitoring of Fetal Wellbeing externally using CTG Machine with 2 probes
Probes detect uterine contraction and fetal heart via connected cable to the CTG machine.
When is CTG used?
Used from 28/40 weeks gestation
Difficult and incorrect interpretation if done earlier.
What is the typical duration of a CTG monitoring session?
20-30 minutes in MEU and AN wards
Long trace done in Labour Ward for 2 hours.
What are the limitations of CTG?
Skilled staff required for setup and interpretation requires training and experience.
