A series of X-ray images taken in slices that have been collated by a computer to form a 3D image

What are the advantages of CT scans?
A
High resolution and accuracy of diagnosis
Can view the image in several anatomical planes
Eliminates superimposition of images of structure outside area of interest

What are the disadvantages of CT scans?
A
Patient is exposed to very high radiation levels
Relatively expensive
