CSEP SOP Flashcards
What is SOP?
A concise description, in broad, nonexclusive terms, of the activities and areas of a professional practice
Does a scope of practice include specific tasks or procedures?
NO! These can become outdated as practice evolves in response to changes in knowledge
What happens when an individual works outside of their SOP?
Expose themselves to legal risk as well as risking the safety of their clients
What are some common reasons that legal issues may arise in the fitness industry?
When trainers fail to recognize when to refer a client, OR if trainers cause injury due to working beyond his/her SOP
What is the CSEP-CPT SOP?
The CSEP-CPT:

Conducts pre-participation screening tools and gathers info about PA and lifestyle
Administers fitness assessments
etc
What is an apparently healthy individual?

What does ‘stable health condition’ mean?
An individual who has been diagnosed with a health condition who is:
Not being medically managed and is asymptomatic
Not experiencing difficulty controlling the condition with medication
The benefits of physical activity clearly outweigh the risks
