- know the pulp status

what increases the risk of loss of vitality?
- crowning teeth
- bridge retainers
- if cracked tooth syndrome
What are the pre-op assessments that are needed?
- PA
- Vitality testing
What are the advantages of a crown? (2)
may stop fracture
may increase tooth lifespan
What are the disadvantages of a crown? (3)
caries risk
no guarantee of how long it lasts ave 5-8 years but lots of variation
loss of vitality risk causing swelling - will need RCT to treat this

What is the life span of a crown
average 5-8 years
what do posts do?
retain a core - do not increase in strength
what height is needed for ferrule?
1.5-2mm of ferrule
What are the options for compromised anterior teeth?
- direct composite
- veneer
- consider bleaching - internal and external
- post and core
What is a key thing to remember when restoring anterior teeth?
The height of the palatal wall where it resists, the thicker the better
