Crystallisation Flashcards
1
Q
What is crystallisation used to separate?
A
a solute from a solvent and only keep the solute
2
Q
What is the method specifically used to make?
A
hydrated crystals

Q
Method
A
- Heat the solution until 2/3 of the water has been lost. This is a saturated solution.
- Test the solution is saturated by dipping in a glass rod and see if crystals form on the end.
- Let the solution cool and crystallise
- Filter out the crystals
- Dry crystals between filter paper
