Crowd And Collective Behaviour Flashcards
Collective behaviour
How people act when they’re in a group
Social FACTORS affecting this
Social loafing
Deindividuation
Culture
Social loafing
When you are in a group the amount of effort decreases, so, there s less output per person .
Diffusion of responsibility
If your output is recognizable there will be less social loafing
If your individual contribution is noticed, you won’t social loaf as much.
Deindividuation
What happens when people lose sense of individuality
When ppl are anonymous
You lose inhibitions and sense of responsibility
This leads to anti-social behaviour
Culture
Individualist cultures=independent view of themselves(see themselves as separate from others)
Collectivistic cultures= interdependent view of themselves(see themselves connected to others)
