Although it is usually self-limiting, what treatment may be offered for mild croup?
A
A single dose of corticosteroid e.g. dexamethasone.

Describe croup.
A
An infection of the upper airway that can restrict breathing and cause a barking cough.

What is the management for more severe croup or mild croup which may cause complications?
A
Hospital admission, dexamethasone or budesonide (nebulised) to reduce symptoms. Dose may need repeating after 12 hours if necessary. Nebulised adrenaline may be used if this is unsuccessful.
