The pillar of cloud moved from in front of the Israelites to behind them, coming between them and the Egyptians.
What happened when Moses stretched his hand out over the sea?
God made a strong East wind blow, separating the sea and creating dry land.
What did God do to the Egyptian army while they were pursuing the Israelites?
God threw the army into confusion: He made the wheels of the chariots jam.
What did the Egyptians say when God jammed the wheels of their chariots?
They said that they should get away from the Israelites because God was fighting on their side.
What did God tell Moses to do while the Egyptian army was confused?
God told Moses to stretch his hand out once again, so that the sea would return to its original place and the Egyptians would drown.
What is the wall of water a symbol of?
God’s protection against evil.
What does this story tell us about Moses?
He is completely obedient to God’s will.
What does the sea symbolise?
Death and new life.
What does passing through the dry land symbolise?
A moment of new creation, new life and renewed hope.
