Cross-tabulation Flashcards
R x C table
It describes a two-way table of counts with (r) rows and (c) columns
x-axis (rows): explanatory variable
y-axis (columns): response variable
Joint distribution
Dividing each cell by the total sample size
Marginal distribution
Dividing number of cases in each category by the total sample size
Conditional distribution
Dividing the number in the cell by the total in the column
H0 is ___
H0: there is no association between the row and column
Ha is ___
Ha: there is an association between the row and column
How do you test the null hypothesis?
You compare the observed cell counts with the expected cell counts
What does the Chi-square test do?
It compares the entire set of observed counts with the set of expected counts (you find the chi-squared statistic X^2)
