- 49% were type A insecure avoidant
- German children are taught to be independent from an early age and accustomed to being left with other adults

- 30% more Type C insecure resistant compared to USA, showing high levels of distress when mother is absent
- Japanese children rarely separated from their mother and have a lot of close physical contact
- however distress may come from unusual procedure
