What is soil fertility?

A

Plants need certain minerals to grow, some soils with more of these minerals are called fertile.
If a plant isn’t fertile a farmer may add fertiliser.

A

Soil has: clay, sand and silt in it.
Soils with high clay levels makes it hard for plant roots to penetrate it.
The best soil is called loam.
