Health Professions Act
An umbrella act that gives legal authority and responsibility over to profession to self regulate. It covers 26 different professions all but one self regulate.
Why self regulate?
There is a mandate to protect the public though safe competent care.
How to self regulate
Give legal authority to self regulate through provincial statute.
What is being self regulated?
Nurses regulate in interest of public.
What does self regulation require?
Strong oversight and intervention.
How do nurses participate in self regulation?
They continue to learn as well as update and maintain license.

2) Prevention, treatment and pallation of illness by addressing health status, planning, implementing and intervention.
