- bias that occurs when participants do not accurately remember a pas event/experience
- common in longitudinal studies/case-controlled/retrospective studies

researchers obtaining inaccurate/unreliable results and therefore reaching a wrong conclusion

A
- bias that occurs when participants give false answers (lie) when responding to researcher’s questions
- when participants tell researchers what they believe they want to hear
- this is often because of shame/embrassament, i.e., about drug use, alcohol consumption, personal habits, etc.
