What is essence of critical theory in cityplanning
A theory not only to analyze society and cities….But a will to change them
What does CT think of public interest in planning?
That it is´nt. i.e. does not exist.
It is capitalist interest and state interest that uses it fakingly to get an appearance of public control. While the real interest is capitalism.
How does it analyze state and market`?
That it is complicit, also with nation. So expose this relationship.
It gives no other alternatives than Dismantling the system and rebuild it. So it is not so good with alternatives. And halfways.
How does the Bourgeouisie remain power and what is it called.
Hegemony( authority over others. ) They have to produce the norm…so They have to have culture which will spread their ideas to legitimizes their rule. By creating the norm which engenders a common sense.
Well I consume a lot of culture which is critical and subversive…but yeah hollywood and shit like that just legitimisez society order. Celebrates it.
Well, I disagree with the word common sense because it can mean critical thinking and reasoning, but yeah maybe that is reason…This means like: what is intuitive and autopilot.
I think Bourgeouisie is not relevant anymore as a definition. other group or groups has the power…And I think it is a very diverse group. The super rich. is the new bourgeouisie I think.
What does Hegemony mean. short explanation.

I get some good salary so I guess it is fair altough my boss gets more. Capitalism is a good system…
So they are deceived (false consciousness, they consider it fair.
Gramsci developed this with the idea of Hegemony.
Well in US did they say Wage Slavery making me skeptic but now? Sure. Now we´re used to work. It is the most important thing…and altough we hate it do we feel we have to do it.
Conscious

Conscience

My critics to Critical theory
That it is just narratives.
It is so fun to consume, divulge in this wellwritten text with gorgeous words explaining oppression and dismantling it. So Intelligent and rich….But then it is stories, we are hardwired to understand our reality through stories…and yet statistics and empiri should be the back bone.
What if there is real public interest and it is not a fake move to legitimize state and capitalism control.
We should measure empirical change of different approaches rather than discussing dismantling system.
We can of course see Millions of people dying of hunger and others living opressed as trans or homosexuals or funktionshindrade. That is empiri for a failure.
But still we should deal with it as pragmatics.
