Critical Reasoning Flashcards
When should you “map” an argument in CR?
Whenever there is a mathematical or up vs. down argument!
(the argument will get easier with the map laid out)!
What is true about inference questions in CR:
1) Where must the answer lie?
2) What role does outside info play?
1) The evidence must be in the passage!
2) You CAN’T bring outside info into inference passages
(if an answer choice brings in outside info, it’s wrong!)
If an argument is rooted in causation, what can you assume about the reverse of that causation?
IE…If an argument says that X causes Y to happen.
What is it innately saying about Y’s impact on X?
The argument is essentially claiming that it can’t be in reverse –> it’s only 1 way!
IE…If an argument says that X causes Y to happen.
It’s ruling out that Y causes X to happen
