Critical reading
- It is when writers create a link or connection
between their work and other texts. - It refers to a work whose meaning is shaped
by referencing or calling to mind other texts.
Intertext
- coined by Ted Nelson in 1965
- It is a non-linear way of showing information
in a text. - It is characterized by external links
embedded in a writer’s text.
Hypertext
It is an argument about a quantifiable topic.
It argues whether something is true or untrue.
It is a statement of something that has existed
(past), exists (present) or will exist (future).
It takes an objective position.
Claim of Fact
It argues whether something is good or bad.
It is based on judgment and evaluation on a
philosophical, aesthetic, or moral standpoint.
A claim of value is also assessed based on accurate
information.
Claim of Value
It is an argument that asserts the implementation
of a certain policy.
It is driven by the need to present a solution to
problems that have arisen.
It generally states solutions and plans that are
procedural and organized.
It also incorporates judgment coupled with
supporting information.
