Othello is loading a gun whilst he is pressing iago for information as iago is passing him the ammunition. Symbolic of how iago is giving othello the metaphorical ammunition to shoot himself by poisoning his mind with lies.

The scene cuts between images of iago whispering in othello’s ear and scenes of desdemona and cassio kissing. Highlighting how iago has penetrated othellos mind and put these images into othellos head.

She hold the handkercheif in her arms and treasures it. Its a symbol of love to her, the kind of love that she may want to have with iago. She thinks giving it to him will make him finally love her.

He has othello initially in white, but then casts it off when iago plants the images of cassio and desdemona in his head, revealing dark clothes underneath and symbolising how othello’s love for desdomona has been coruppted ad darkened as a result of iagos words. Othello is then also wearing a white robe for the subverted marrige scene at the end of the play, symbolising how he is getting married with the devil in the form of iago.
