Critical Care Pharmacology Flashcards
(27 cards)
Receptors that
- promarily found in vascular smooth muscle
- peripheral vasoconstriction
- increased SVR
Alpha 1
Receptors that
- found in heart and intestinal smooth muscle
- increase contractility
- increase SV, HR, and CO
Beta 1
Receptors that
- are primarily found in brocial vasculature
- chronchodilation
- coronary artery vasodilation
Beta 2
It is used in patients with cardiogenic shock, decreased CO, ang congenital/acquired heat defects. For MI
Causes systemic + pulmonary vasodilation -> decreased afterload, increased contractiloty
MILRINONE
What is the normal aPTT when youre not with anicoagulants
30-40 seconds
What is the therapeutic aPTT when you’re with Heparin
1.5 - 2.5x normal
What labs do you monitor with Heparin?
APTT
What lab do you check with Warfarin
INR
What is the nrormal INR level (when not on any anticoagulant)?
0.9 - 1.2
When taking Warfarin, what is the therapeutic INR level?
2-3
Normal Value for Sodium
135-145 mEq/L
What is the normal Potassium level
3.5 - 5
What is the normal calcium level
9 - 10.5
What is the normal Magnesium level
1.5 -2.5
What is the normal Chloride level
98 - 106
What is the normal Phosphorus level
2 - 4.5
What is the normal Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) level?
10 - 20 mg/dL
What is the normal Vreatinine level
0.9 - 1.2
It is an antiretroviral medication that may be administered intrapartum to further reduce vertical transmission of HIV. This medication is commonly indicated for women who have a scheduled cesarean delivery oor, in the rare instance of vaginal delivery. This medication is predcribed and administereed intrapartum depends on the mother’s viral load. The lower the viral load, the less liekly of transmisison to the fetus.
ZIDOVUDINE (ZDV)
It is an antiviral indicated int he treatment of herpes simplex. This medication may be used during pregnancy, despite the limited safety profile.
VALACYCLOVIR
It is an antifungal drug indicated in treating systemiv fungal infections.
Amphotericin b
It is an effective antibiotic indicated for bacterial and parasitic infections sucg as vaginosis and trichomas.
METRONIDAZOLE
What are three medications used for management of opiod use disorder?
- Naltrexone - opioid receptor antagonist that blocks the effects of opioids in the brain.
- Methadone - a long acting opioid agonist that helps reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms in individuals with opioid disorder.
- Buprenorphine - it is a partial opioid agonist that binds to the same receptors as opioids but produces weaker effects.
It is a SSRI and is the only approved medication for bulimia nervosa. This medication effectively treats this disorder, especially when coupled with psychotherapy. It assists in increasing a client’s weight and may mitigate comorbid disorders such as generalized anxiety disorder.
