What are the types of crisis management action plans or events?
CPR, Bleeding, Shock, Neck and spinal injuries.
When and how to give CPR?
When danger has been removed, materials removed from airway but the casualty is still not breathing. 30 compressions and 2 breaths.
What to do when someone is bleeding?
Conduct PER then DRSABCD, elevate and rest injured area, loosen tight clothing and wait for medical help.
Identify when and how to administer first aid to someone in shock
When there is paleness and cold, clammy skin, weakness, rapid pulse, rapid shallow breathing, nausea and faintness.
DRSABCD, reassure patient and keep them comfortable(not too hot, not too cold) but do not give them food or drinks, dress any wounds and burns and loosen restrictive clothing.
Identify when and how to administer first aid to someone who has a neck or spinal injury
There will be pain at or below the site of the injury, loss of movement, lack of movement below the site of the injury, tingling in the hands or feet.
Support their head and loosen tight clothing, monitor casualty and seek medical attention. If they are unconscious do DRSABCD but be careful when turning patient to their side and minimize neck movement.
